We removed the roof and rear extension and rebuilt with a loft room and 2 story rear extension on 3 levels. Dampproofed it and installed external wall insulation.

Extension & Full Refurb - Penge

We provided the full Design and Build service on this major refurbishment and extension project in South East London. 
The original two-storey semi-detached house was in a pretty poor state of repair. We obtained planning permission for both side and rear extensions, reinstating the original front bay and converting the loft. We commissioned a bespoke structural solution for safe and simple installation, while unobtrusively supporting the entire rear section of the original building. From a humble start we have been able to create a modern, spacious, 21st century family home. 
 

Kitchen extension and refurbishment BR3

We are really proud of this latest kitchen extension to a fine semi-detached home in Beckenham. The house had already been extended once in its history but was in real need of updating and while the client's budget required major structural alterations to be kept to a minimum the architect's design further extended, updated and modernised the cramped spaces.
Earl & Calam's attention to detail ensured that the results are outstanding; opening the back of the house to the garden and providing much needed space for contemporary living while maintaining the client's desired aesthetic for a comfortable, functional family kitchen.

Lower Ground Floor Refurbishment - Wandsworth

We provided a design and build service to bring back to life the lower ground floor storey of this substantial mid-terraced Victorian house. 
We replaced the previously installed but failing waterproofing system; our underfloor heating solution was researched to avoid breaking out of the floor while maintaining the maximum possible ceiling height; we even continued outside to roof repairs, railings and landscaping.
By providing a temporary re-location of their kitchen the clients and their 1 year old daughter were able to remain in the house during the works.    

Balham family home revamp

A small but challenging project to open and extend this family home in south London. We built a new single-storey rear extension and an additional first floor side addition, opening out the rear of the house over two-storeys for a beautiful new kitchen-dining room and first floor master bathroom.
Uncovering some of the previous alterations to the house certainly gave us challenges in the construction. But through working closely with our engineers Earl & Calam were able to find solutions to upgrade and reuse some elements of the previous work, keeping control of the budget while ensuring our client's got the great results they were looking for.

After commissioning an architect's concept outline our design-conscious clients appointed us for the detailed design and construction of their renovation project. We were able to match the cost of their proposed stock kitchen to produce our own striking, bespoke design using geometry derived from Le Corbusier's Modulor. 
Beautiful carpentry detail and an in-situ cast reinforced concrete worktop combine to meet the clients' brief for modernity, functionality and something extra-special to get the most from their budget.

By working closely with the client and carefully programming the works Earl & Calam were able to build the whole project while the client continued living at the property.

We built a striking, modern refurbishment to a typical Edwardian terraced house designed by Jonathan Clarke Architects. Integrated seating and joinery maximise space while the mirrored sliding door and splashbacks invite views of the garden. 
Constructed while the client continued to live at the property.

We provided the detailed design and construction service based on the architect's concept for this rear extension and partial refurbishment in Tufnell Park.
We commissioned and installed bespoke structural design to allow the rear of the house to be demolished and extended in a practical and cost-effective way, as well as providing detailed design right down to the tiling in the master bathroom. 
Since our original involvement in 2008 we also returned last year at the client's request to carry out further renovations to the top floor. 

Extension & Partial Refurb - Tufnell Park

We provided the construction service to the architect's design to refurbish and modernise this three-storey terraced house. Structural demolitions and support were required to the back of the house in order to construct the elegant kitchen/dining extension with full width doors and expressed steel. Refurbishment to the rest of the house included sliding glass doors and glass brick partitions to maximise light and bring to life a contemporary design to a comfortable family home.

We constructed this striking ground floor extension and bathroom refurbishment in North London to design by Robert Dye Architects. 
A single piece of partially shaded glass forms the roof to the remodelled existing first floor bathroom, externally finished in coloured render.

Two apartments knocked through to form a duplex. After stair design from Stephen Turvil Architects we were asked to carry on construction and design into the living spaces, kitchen and bathrooms for a full renovation.

Full Design and Build service on this 3 bed garden flat in Brixton. A substantial Victorian house previously converted into flats with rear extension; the previous work was found to be very poorly constructed and in need of regularisation. Little to no sound insulation between floors and neighbouring properties was also addressed as part of our full renovation which included summer house and landscaping.

The full renovation of a  detached, 1960s two-storey house in Essex including the remodelling of bathrooms, kitchen and ground floor structural demolitions. 
The clients commissioned us for the full Design and Build service to create the perfect home in which to enjoy their retirements. 
The project brief included careful phasing of the works so that the clients (and their dogs) could remain safely at the property during the build with the minimum of discomfort.

We provided the construction service on this partial renovation to a substantial semi-detached house in North London after design by Robert Dye Architects. 
Traditional materials and detailing at the lower floors sits alongside a more contemporary, modern style of the bright and lightweight loft spaces.

We restored this three-storey, mid-terrace property back into a single family house from its previous flat conversion. The work was originally carried out as a development project for the re-sale market, but on completion of the works our client was so pleased with the results he chose to move in instead.

From design by Nick Leith-Smith Architect's we provided the construction service for the interior of this purpose-built apartment overlooking the Thames.
High quality materials and detail that define this interior include beautiful, snow white Thassos marble, underfloor heating throughout and bamboo floors in the master bedroom. 
Our design for a hidden steel frame structure within the partitions provides strength and long-term robustness for the architect's clever hidden door frame detail.

Responding to the client's desire for a beautiful modern home with a traditional aesthetic we used high quality materials and detailing to fully redecorate this substantial Victorian semi-detached house in north London. 
As well as roof replacement, cleaning the external brickwork, plumbing and landscaping, we also provided the design for refurbishment of the master bathroom.  
    

Full Redecoration, Landscaping & Maintenance - Highgate

Earl & Calam provided the detailed Design & Build for this ground floor extension and kitchen refurbishment project. 
We commissioned our own structural design and temporary works to support the recently re-decorated first floor rear of the house to ensure minimal disruption during the build. 
Careful dust protection and a temporary re-instatement of the existing kitchen meant that the family could safely remain at the property during construction with the minimum of disruption to site operations.

Our design idea to turn otherwise lost space into a well lit snug and work space was born from our original brief for roof repairs and central heating refurbishment. 
This substantial mid-terrace house in Camden needed care and attention to raise it back to being a family home, and after freeing up the snug space by repositioning the boiler we were also asked to design and refurbish the guest bathroom.
